Influencer Marketing KPIs and Measurement

Influencer marketing KPIs are numbers used to check whether a campaign is moving toward the result you want. You do not need to memorize marketing acronyms first. Decide whether the goal is awareness, product interest, ecommerce or store traffic, or purchase, then choose only the numbers that show progress toward that result.

What is a KPI?

KPI stands for Key Performance Indicator. It is a number that tells you whether a campaign is moving toward its goal. Views, saves, site visits and purchases can all be KPIs depending on the objective.

A bigger number is not automatically better. Awareness and purchase campaigns need different measures.

First decide what the campaign should change

Choose one final result such as new-product awareness, product understanding, ecommerce traffic, pop-up visits or purchases.

Some teams call this final result a KGI, or Key Goal Indicator. Think of the KGI as the destination and KPIs as the useful signs on the way there.

What should you measure for awareness?

Look at people reached, total impressions and video views. Reach means the number of people who saw the content; impressions means the total number of times it was displayed.

For video, also check whether people kept watching.

What should you measure for product interest?

Saves, comments, profile visits, branded search and product-page views show that people wanted to learn more.

A post with fewer views but many saves or product-page visits may create stronger interest.

What should you measure for ecommerce, enquiries or visits?

Track link clicks, ecommerce visits, purchases, enquiries, coupon use and store or pop-up visits.

Creator-specific links or coupon codes can separate traffic. UTM parameters are labels added to URLs so analytics can identify where a visit came from.

How do you compare cost efficiency?

Compare the cost to create one unit of the result you care about, such as one click, one purchase or 1,000 impressions.

CPC means cost per click, CPA means cost per acquisition, CPM means cost per 1,000 impressions, and ROAS compares revenue with advertising spend. Use only the measures that fit the goal.

How do you make the report useful next time?

Record the same fields for each creator: content format, message, cost and the main results.

KPIs are useful when they help decide which creators to keep, which formats to scale and what message to change next.
