Landing Page Optimization: A Practical CVR Improvement Guide
Landing page optimization means improving a page so people arriving from ads, search or social media can understand the offer and move more easily to the next action, such as an enquiry or purchase. A landing page is a page built around one offer and one primary action.

- 01
Choose one primary action for the page
- 02
Check understanding, reassurance and action in that order
- 03
Change a small number of things and record what happened
What are you improving on a landing page?
A landing page explains a product or service and guides the visitor toward one action such as an enquiry, download or purchase.
When that target action happens it is called a conversion, often shortened to CV. CVR means conversion rate: the percentage of visitors who complete the action. In plain language, it tells you how many visitors reached the goal.
Start with one primary page goal
If enquiry, purchase and newsletter signup all compete equally, visitors may not know what to do next.
Choose the main action and arrange the page around the information needed to make that decision.
Can visitors tell immediately that the page is for them?
People quickly decide whether a page is relevant and what they will get from it.
Use the first headline, supporting visual and short explanation to show whose problem the offer solves and how.
What is a CTA and is the next action clear?
CTA stands for Call To Action. It is the button or link that asks the visitor to do something next, such as get a consultation, buy or view a guide.
The label should make the next step clear. The information before the button should also give the visitor enough reason and reassurance to act.
Are people dropping out at the form?
Long forms and unclear questions create friction just before the enquiry or purchase.
Keep only the information you genuinely need at the first step, mark required and optional fields clearly, and explain what happens after submission.
What does an A/B test compare?
An A/B test compares the current version with a version where one important element has changed to see which produces more of the target action.
Do not change the headline, image, button and pricing all at once. Change one high-impact element first and compare the conversion rate or another metric that fits the goal.
